Fire Door Safety Week

“Fire Door Safety Week has worked hard to highlight the importance of fire doors and good fire safety practice.”

Fire Door Safety Week

It is incredibly important that as well as security businesses consider and maintain health and safety regulations, to provide a safe environment for employees and customers. Many of our security installations also require additional safety precautions, for example, steel or timber security doors that also work as fire doors. This is something we can provide within our security solutions, and we encourage all businesses to ensure their fire doors are compliant with standards.

Fire Door Safety Week was launched in 2013, by the British Woodworking Federation, in response to the neglect of fire doors across the UK. The objectives of the campaign are:

  • To raise awareness of the critical role of fire doors, drawing attention to specific issues such as poor installation and maintenance.
  • To encourage building owners and users to check the operation and condition of their fire doors and to report those that aren’t satisfactory.
  • To link together the initiatives of many organisations with common interests in the fire door and passive fire protection industries.
  • To engage and educate people, helping the whole building industry and every property owner to understand the correct specification, supply, installation, operation, inspection and maintenance.

They provide a tool kit of resources to educate and provide guidance on best practice when it comes to fire door safety. For more information on Fire Door Safety regulations please see The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and BRE’s “What you need to know… Fire Door Safety”.
