Entrance Control vs Access Control

Entrance and Access Control are both necessary elements to control who enters and exits any premises or secure area, but do you know the true difference between the two?

Access Control

Access Control refers to the selective systems that are used to verify authorised personnel using their credentials for example, biometrics, pin numbers, access cards, bluetooth etc, and permits or denies entry based on the requirements predefined in the system.

Entrance Control

Entrance control is the physical system which actually prevents or allows entry into an area when the decision has been fed to it by an Access Control system. This can be done by a range of high and low security systems, for example:

Security Portals offer a high security solution to control entry and exit to internal secure areas. Our portals offer single person passage checking and abandoned object detection systems. They are available in both circle and square profiles to meet existing building aesthetics and client needs. A range of passage widths are available, including a DDA approved wide version.

We provide a range of security resistance levels including EN1627 RC4 Manual Attack rating and EN1522 FB4 Ballistic Rating. Our Security Portals are designed to be integrated with any access control system.

Revolving Doors offer a high security solution to control entry to internal secure areas. We provide a range of security resistance levels including EN1627 RC4 Manual Attack rating and EN1522 FB4 Ballistic Rating. Available in a number of sizes, with features including single person checking system and optional metal detectors. Our Revolving Doors are designed to be integrated with any access control system.

Security Pass Doors

Pass Doors offer a high security solution designed to assist entry and exit in conjunction with our Security Portals and Revolving Doors. They are available as emergency exit doors, with panic hardware. A range of passage widths are available, including a DDA approved wide version.

They are intended to operate alongside electronic systems as supplementary devices to turnstiles or for passage ways where strict access control is not required and wide passageway is a key factor.
